Therapy Tailored to Your Healing Journey

Individual Counselling & Psychotherapy in Burlington and Across Ontario

At Guiding You Counselling and Psychotherapy, I offer warm, collaborative, and individualized therapy for adults navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, self-worth, boundaries, and personal growth.

I believe that our patterns often make sense when we understand where they came from.

The ways we think, feel, relate, and respond to the world are often shaped by our experiences and by what we learned we needed to do to cope, connect, belong, or feel safe. Sometimes, patterns that were helpful at one point in our lives can continue long after our circumstances have changed.

Rather than judging these patterns or asking, “What's wrong with me?”, therapy can create space to become curious about them:

Where did this pattern come from? What might it have been trying to protect me from? How is it affecting me today? And is there another way I would like to respond now?

My role is to help you understand yourself with greater compassion while developing the awareness, flexibility, and practical skills to make meaningful changes.

I offer in-person counselling and psychotherapy in Burlington, Ontario, as well as secure virtual therapy for clients throughout Ontario.

How I Can Support You

Navigating Relationship Challenges

Relationships can bring up some of our deepest patterns. Whether you are experiencing conflict, difficulty trusting, fear of abandonment, people-pleasing, difficulty communicating your needs, or uncertainty about what you want from a relationship, therapy can provide a space to slow things down and understand what is happening.

Together, we can explore your relationship patterns, how past experiences may influence the way you connect with others, and how you would like to show up in your relationships today.

Understanding Your Patterns

Sometimes we know what we are doing but don't understand why we keep doing it.

You may find yourself overthinking, withdrawing, people-pleasing, becoming overwhelmed, avoiding difficult conversations, seeking reassurance, or struggling to let go, even when part of you wants to respond differently.

I believe these patterns are worth approaching with curiosity rather than judgment.

Therapy can help you explore where these responses developed, what they may have helped you navigate in the past, and whether they are still serving you in the same way today.

Managing Anxiety & Emotional Overwhelm

Anxiety can affect how we think, feel, relate, and move through everyday life. You may feel caught in overthinking, worry, self-doubt, emotional reactivity, or a sense of being overwhelmed.

Therapy can help you develop a greater understanding of your emotional experiences while learning practical ways to respond to difficult thoughts, feelings, and situations.

The goal is not necessarily to eliminate difficult emotions, but to develop a different relationship with them and greater flexibility in how you respond.

Rebuilding Self-Worth & Confidence

When self-doubt becomes a familiar pattern, it can affect relationships, decision-making, boundaries, and how you see yourself.

Therapy can provide an opportunity to explore the experiences and beliefs that have shaped your sense of self, recognize patterns of self-criticism, and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

Together, we can work toward greater self-trust and a stronger connection with your own needs, values, and strengths.

Setting Healthy Boundaries

Boundaries can be difficult when you have learned to prioritize other people's needs, avoid conflict, or worry about disappointing others.

Therapy can help you explore what makes boundaries difficult for you and develop more compassionate and confident ways of communicating your needs.

This may include learning to tolerate the discomfort that can come with saying no, expressing your needs, or allowing others to have feelings about your boundaries.

Cultivating Self-Compassion

Many people are far more compassionate toward others than they are toward themselves.

If you experience a strong inner critic, shame, perfectionism, or a tendency to judge yourself harshly, therapy can help you develop greater understanding and compassion for the parts of yourself that may be struggling.

Self-compassion does not mean giving up on growth. It can mean learning to meet yourself with understanding while still making intentional changes.

What Therapy With Me May Look Like

Therapy is collaborative, and your treatment will be tailored to your individual needs, goals, and circumstances.

Depending on what brings you to therapy, our work may include:

  • Understanding emotional and relationship patterns

  • Exploring experiences that may have shaped those patterns

  • Developing greater self-awareness and self-compassion

  • Identifying and working with self-critical or protective parts

  • Learning to notice thoughts without automatically acting on them

  • Developing practical strategies for managing anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Exploring personal values and what matters most to you

  • Building healthier boundaries and communication skills

  • Developing greater flexibility in responding to difficult emotions

  • Identifying new ways of relating to yourself and others

You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. We can start with where you are.
