I believe that every person carries strength and wisdom within, and therapy is about helping you reconnect with it.
Trauma-Informed Therapy for Anxiety, Relationships, and Self-Worth in Ontario
Registered Psychotherapist offering compassionate support online across Ontario and in Burlington
Hi! I’m Cierra DoCouto, a Registered Psychotherapist based in Burlington, Ontario, and I’m really glad you’re here.
If you’ve found your way to this page, there’s a good chance something feels heavy right now. Maybe you’re feeling stuck in relationship patterns that keep repeating, overwhelmed by anxiety or self-doubt, or unsure how to trust yourself or others. You might know something needs to change, but you’re not quite sure where to start.
I provide trauma-informed therapy for individuals who want to better understand themselves, feel more grounded in their emotions, and create healthier, more fulfilling relationships, both with others and with themselves. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and paced with care. Therapy with me isn’t about “fixing” you; it’s about helping you make sense of your experiences and reconnect with who you are beneath the overwhelm.
Many of the people I work with struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing, or low self-worth. Others are healing from emotionally painful or controlling relationships, or carrying the lingering effects of past trauma. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to navigate it alone, and you don’t need to have everything figured out before starting.
In our sessions, you can expect a safe, non-judgmental space where your experiences are respected and your feelings are taken seriously. Together, we’ll work on managing difficult emotions, building self-trust, and gently shifting patterns that no longer serve you, so you can move through life with more clarity, confidence, and connection.
I offer online therapy across Ontario and in-person sessions in Burlington. You’re welcome to book a free 20-minute consultation, a low-pressure way to ask questions, share what’s been coming up for you, and see if working together feels like a good fit.
Starting therapy takes courage. If you’re ready to take that first step, I’d be honoured to support you.
My Approach: Gentle, Trauma-Informed, and Centered on You
At Guiding You Counselling and Psychotherapy, my goal is to create a space where you feel seen, respected, and emotionally safe. I take a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, which means therapy moves at your pace, with no rush, and no judgment, only support as you explore your experiences and reconnect with your inner strength.
I believe that healing isn’t about “fixing something broken.” It’s about helping you reclaim your sense of self, strengthen your self-trust, and create space for growth and self-compassion.
How I Can Support You
Understanding Relationship Challenges
We can explore patterns in romantic, family, or friendship dynamics and how they might shape the way you relate to yourself and others. Together, we can work on reclaiming your voice and sense of self.
Rebuilding Self-Worth & Confidence
If you feel stuck, unsure, or disconnected from your inner voice, therapy may support you in recognizing your strengths, nurturing self-trust, and reconnecting with your inner wisdom.
Creating Healthy Boundaries
Boundaries are a way of honouring yourself and protecting your energy. We can find compassionate, practical ways to say “no” when needed while remaining kind to yourself.
Healing Through Self-Compassion
This work isn’t about “fixing” you, it’s about reconnecting with your wholeness. Therapy provides space to invite gentleness toward yourself, process emotional pain, and cultivate growth at a pace that feels right for you.
Credentials & Experience
I’m a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO #17131) and a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I have a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and a Bachelor’s in Social Psychology and a minor in Sociology from McMaster University. I’ve also completed formal training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), an evidence-based approach that helps you connect with and understand different parts of yourself, those that carry pain, protect you, or feel stuck, so you can move toward integration, self-understanding, and emotional balance. Learn more about IFS here.
I’m also completing additional training in relational trauma, including emotional abuse, gaslighting, and narcissism. I support individuals navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, self-doubt, low self-worth, and attachment concerns.
