About Cierra DoCouto, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
Support for Emotional Abuse and Breakup Recovery in Burlington, Ontario
Hi, I'm Cierra DoCouto, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO #17131) based in Burlington, Ontario. I specialize in supporting young women and survivors of toxic relationships to heal from emotional abuse, gaslighting, low self-worth, and the lingering effects of trauma.
If you’ve experienced a relationship where you felt small, confused, or constantly walking on eggshells, you are not alone. Whether it was a romantic relationship, a parent, or a toxic friendship, emotional trauma can leave deep wounds. And even after leaving, it’s hard to feel like yourself again.
You might still hear that inner voice saying “maybe it was my fault.” In therapy with me, you don’t have to prove your pain. You are valid, and your healing matters.
My Approach: Gentle, Trauma-Informed, and Centered on You
At Guiding You Counselling and Psychotherapy, I’m committed to creating a space where you feel truly seen, respected, and emotionally safe. My approach is trauma-informed and client-centered, which means therapy moves at a pace that feels right for you, there’s no rush, no judgment, only support. I believe you already carry strength and wisdom within you, and sometimes all it takes is the right kind of gentle support to reconnect with it. Whenever you feel ready to begin your healing and find your voice again, know that I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion and care.
Together, we can explore:
Understanding the Impact of Toxic Relationships
We’ll gently uncover how emotional abuse, gaslighting, or people-pleasing patterns may be influencing how you see yourself and relate to others, and begin to reclaim your own truth.
Rebuilding Self-Worth & Confidence
If you’re feeling stuck, unsure, or disconnected from your inner voice, I can help support you in nurturing self-trust and discovering your personal power again.
Creating Healthy Boundaries
Boundaries are a way of honoring yourself. Together, we can find compassionate, practical ways to say “no” when you need to, and protect your energy with kindness toward yourself.
Healing Through Self-Compassion
This work isn’t about fixing something that’s broken, you are whole. It’s about inviting gentleness toward yourself and making room for healing and growth at your own pace.
Credentials & Experience
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Psychology from McMaster University and a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I’m registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO #17131) and practice under the supervision of a fully registered psychotherapist. I have extensive experience supporting women healing from relationship trauma, emotional abuse, low self-worth, anxiety, and attachment challenges. I’m also deeply committed to ongoing learning, continually expanding my skills in trauma, somatic therapies, and other approaches. Most recently, I completed training in Internal Family Systems (IFS), a gentle, evidence-based model that helps clients connect with and heal the parts of themselves that carry pain, protect them, or feel stuck.
